Let’s take your book to the next level!
As a children’s author and illustrator, I know the importance of working with an editor who understands your vision.
From chapter books to YA, whatever the genre or format, I will champion your work and help you to craft the very best version of the story you want to tell.
My debut chapter book
A little bit about me:
Columbia Publishing Course at Oxford 2025
MFA in creative writing 2021
BFA in computer animation 2012
Gobelins- Summer Program 2010
I specialize in editing books for children of all ages.
I have a deep love of action-adventure stories, bull-headed/determined protagonists, unique magic systems, animals, monsters (of both the wild and sidekick variety), and robots. I have a fascination with stories that highlight the clash between technology and the natural world, and I love when a book’s setting resembles our own reality, but with a twist. I do also have a major soft spot for quieter, slice-of-life stories, especially in graphic novel form.
If your project is inspired by your love of anime, video games, or movies, send it my way! If Studio Ghibli is your favorite animation studio, and Diana Wynne Jones your favorite children’s author, let’s talk! If your book is a non-stop thrill ride, why haven’t you sent it to me already?
If your book doesn’t include any of the above… never fear! The best part about reading is discovering something new and exciting. And I’m ready for you to introduce me to my next obsession!
In short, if you want a partner in crime with whom you can nerd out about all things storytelling, I’m the editor for you!
This is YOUR quest!
Your book is the hero in this grand adventure; I am simply the road-weary traveler you meet along the way who offers you a road map and some sage advice.
Regardless of what state your book is in, whether it needs deep structural edits or just a light pass for polish, the notes and suggestions I provide will always follow the same guiding principle: Does this help your hero on its quest?
In other words, does this note help you to tell the story YOU want to tell? These are your characters, your world, and your adventure, after all.
From novels to graphic novels
I can easily assess the needs of a wide range of books, regardless of writing style or format.
I have a special love of graphic novels and highly illustrated middle grade books, as well as the know-how to guide both the written and visual aspects of these projects.
When it comes to prose-only books, I have a knack for utilizing my background in design and animation to help your story and characters leap into the reader’s imagination as vividly as if they were watching a movie.
Fast turnarounds!
I know just how long it takes to craft a first, second, or even third draft, and how stressful it can be to finally go out on that limb and share your book. I also know that, after all of your hard work, the most nerve-wracking part can often be waiting for edits.
Which is why you will always receive your first round of editorial notes within three to seven business days.
* To ensure this, I will only take on new clients when I know I can hit that first turnaround mark. Unless otherwise stated on this site, assume I am open to new work.
The training montage….
If your book is the hero, then the process of editing is the hero’s training montage. Which means several rounds of edits will likely be necessary before your book can slay that dragon!
All of my services come with a second round of edits at no extra cost. It does not matter if that second round comprises more deep edits or a simple brush up.
NOTE: Some shorter projects include a third round of edits.
* Please find my pricing guide below.
EDITORIAL PRICING GUIDE -
* Note: I do NOT accept partial manuscripts. You owe it to yourself to fully finish a draft (or two, or three) before you enlist (and pay for) the help of a professional editor.
1.) For prose projects longer than 3,000 words (including script-only graphic novels), I charge $.05 a word.
This includes a second round of edits at no extra cost.
If a third or fourth round of edits is necessary, each round will be charged individually at 50% of the per-word charge.
2.) For prose only books less than 3,000 words, I charge a flat fee of $200.00.
This includes a second and third round of edits at no extra cost.
3.) For graphic novels or highly illustrated books that include a substantial amount of complete or rough artwork, I charge $8.00 a page.
This includes a second round of edits, as well as any art development needs, at no extra cost.
* Pricing is not dependent on the amount of editing needed, but rather on the length and format of the manuscript. This keeps my rates fair for all clients and ensures that I am paid appropriately for the work provided. This is especially important considering my fast turnarounds times.
* In the rare instance that I feel I am not the right fit for your project, I will be upfront with my refusals. From the outset, I can say I am not interested in anything overly/needlessly violent or gratuitous. I am also not looking to take on books that are political in nature.
